Questions parents ask us
Which exams does Kaulguds Academy prepare students for?
We teach IIT-JEE (Mains and Advanced), NEET (UG), MHT-CET, and the Std 11 and Std 12 syllabus for both CBSE and HSC. We also run a Foundation programme for Class 9 and Class 10. The academy has been teaching in Pune since 1983.
Where is the academy, and what are the class timings?
We are at Abja Pavillion, DP Road, above Kaka Halwai, Raagdari Society, Aundh, Pune, Maharashtra 411007. The academy is open Monday to Saturday from 8:00 am to 8:30 pm, and on Sunday from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon. Individual batch timings vary by standard - call +91 77740 52955 or 020 4005 9295 and we will tell you the timings for your child's standard.
Are admissions open?
Yes. Admissions are open for Academic Year 2027-28, across all programmes: IIT-JEE (Mains and Advanced), NEET (UG), MHT-CET, Std 11 and 12 for CBSE and HSC, and Foundation for Class 9 and 10. There is no application deadline.
What do the classes cost?
Batches are organised by standard, and fees depend on the standard and the batch enrolled. Contact the academy for current batch timings and fees.
Who teaches the classes?
Qualified and experienced faculty, long associated with the academy, for the respective subject at each standard.
My child already attends junior college. Is coaching on top of that too much?
Junior college lectures and coaching classes are doing two different jobs. The college covers the board syllabus and runs the practicals and the internal assessment; coaching works on problem-solving speed and on the parts of the syllabus that the entrance exams test harder than the boards do. The question worth asking is not whether to do both, but whether the two timetables actually fit together in your child's week - bring the college timetable when you come and we will go through it with you.
Should a Class 9 or Class 10 student start preparing for JEE or NEET already?
Not in the sense of starting entrance-exam coaching at that age. What helps at Class 9 and Class 10 is getting the underlying mathematics and science solid, because almost every later difficulty in JEE and NEET preparation traces back to a gap there. That is what our Foundation programme is for. A student who arrives in Std 11 with that base can start entrance preparation without first repairing Class 9 algebra.
What should I ask before joining any coaching class in Pune?
Four things are worth insisting on, at any institute, including ours. Ask who will actually teach your child's batch, by name and subject, rather than who appears in the advertising. Ask how many students are in that specific batch, not the average across the institute. Ask what happens when a student falls behind - whether there is a named person responsible for noticing. And ask to sit in on one real class, not a specially arranged demo. An institute that is comfortable with all four is usually the one to join.
